Nothing can stay
when they are in Nature's day;
when sun is bright
and spirits deceptively light.
The world is black and white
In mind's dark night.
Where walls moulder away,
leaving dust and ashes in its decay.
1 April 2006
heys, April Fool's day!
Today was quite an eventful day. Had Econs retest for mcq, then shi wei spent most of the day(a huge sacrifice, i assure you) with mi running around to take pictures of old dilapedated buildings. First, we went to Little India (and met Li Yao on the train there!) and we spent quite a long time taking photos. Best of all, i found really run-down buildings and even the patterns of corroded walls, which were quite interesting. We even found this really old storehouse whereby the door had been broken down and bits of glass were scattered everywhere. There were, much to my utmost delight, many, many signs of corrosion, which i faithfully took down with the ridiculously huge lenes that Mrs Ng loaned me. I was quite dubious about finding the interior of a house that is mouldy and run-down, much less the owner having the kindness to let me take pictures of the ruin, so you can probably understand how amazing and miraculous it seems for us to find that abandoned storehouse, thank God!
It was an unnerving experience as it was really dark inside, and eerie. The only source of light came from the broken roof, and the interior further in was so dark that one cannot peer inside and see anything. A Health Board van passed by the place and gave us a warning to be careful as the place was really dangerous and likely to collapse. I was afraid when they hailed us that we would be scolded, but luckily we were wearing our school uniform and looked like we were doing a project instead of being up to no good.
We went past grandma's house on the way to city hall, and we helped a group of foreign theatre directors to take their photo, much to their delight. We got a bookmark each from the encounter, and it was nice as they asked about our school and everything. Maybe they were curious when they saw my camera bag, haz. We went to have beancurd after that, and guess wad, i met Xin Xian who's coordinating the makan mania there, hahaz!
After that we went to raffles place by train and shi wei took lotsa pictures of the reflections on the buildings there (I quote: the more confusing the reflections, the better, hahaz). I was able to take pictures of this really buge construction of a humongous office building, but i think i wasn't able to capture the huge scale and activity there, to my huge dissatisfaction...
Anyways, went to bugis after that (walked shi wei to city hall first though, and met Candice and her friend there) to the Mac at bras bersah to meet yishan n yiling. Had quite a great time, and i got a new wallet! (yep, finally)
At last, i went home by train. It's been a long long long day today and my feet are absolutely sore from the hours of walking, haiz... but it's been really encouraging and fruitful. Tomorrow i'm going to the army to see yong en with papa and mama, so wonder why i'm still up so late?
